Introducing Chris Hawley, our latest recruit in our business development team.
We would like to welcome Chris Hawley to the X3 Consulting team, Chris has worked with Nick before (both had less grey hair and Nick had hair!) and a chance conversation has led to them working together again. Like Nick, Chris has over 30 years’ experience of providing ERP solutions, working with everything from start-ups, sole traders to large enterprises.
Chris also brings with him over 24 years’ worth of experience of working directly for Sage, working with just about every product or service they have ever produced in a range of roles. One of his many claims to fame is he was the Sage 200 Suite Product Manager, where he steered the Sage 200 product from its early days, turning its fortunes around and growing it into the successful product it became.
After leaving Sage, Chris setup a successful business as a Sage Business Partner which after 5 years, he sold to another Sage partner. Now after a small break Chris is delighted to bring his wealth of experience to the X3 team and help the business grow even further as we become a key player in the UK and Global ERP marketplace.
X3 Consulting Managing Director, Jaco Esterhuysen, said: “Chris brings a valuable breadth of skills and experience to our sales team. Having worked across diverse sectors including healthcare, education, finance and services, he will be able to draw on best practice from these areas to introduce new opportunities and approaches to our business. His proven commercial background, combined with strong customer focus, will help take us to the next level of our growth strategy and keep us at the forefront of our industry.”
In his own words, Chris is very keen to start looking at Sage Intacct as the Sage Cloud products hold the promise of delivering on the often-promised goals of ever-growing business efficiency and automation.
Based in Wylam, Northumberland with his wife Jules (another ex-Sage person) and their 3 children, Chris spends his time in his own gym and at weekends is helping Jules with her passion to setup a market garden business on the small holding they own, Chris is quick to point out that he is not green fingered in the slightest and prefers technology!

We combined our triumphant training day with our employee awards last month. This meant we were able to recognise some of the hard work done by our amazing team. When you work in a small business, you really have to step up and deliver as there is no one else you can hide behind. This is why X3 Consulting and the team are like a family. We all work together towards a common goal in the knowledge we can make a difference and the input of each team member, matters.
The team has shown incredible growth over the last 12 month and is adapting to the latest expansion which almost doubles the team! X3 Consulting builds up their people through support, recognition and growth. The recent awards was part of a new initiative to highlight the hard work of some of the individuals who have stood out over the last 12 months. Both Nick and Jaco, the Directors of the business, lead the team by supporting everyones roles within the business and offering ways to promote growth through industry training and personal development. Through this supportive, encouraging approach, X3C can grow as a team and help build on their potential and strength as a smaller business. Keeping their uniqueness is key, which is why customers and clients stay with them.
Spotlight this week:
Luis Moreira
WINNER
The Optimist

Luis is very much the ‘yes’ man of the team. Always happy to help another and get involved in trouble shooting some of the more complex project challenges. He never complains and his positive demeanour hasn’t gone unnoticed. The willingness to help and get the job done, with a smile awarded him with the title ‘The optimist’.

Last week we had the privilege of being hosted at the Sage offices for our annual team meet up. The team all came together from across the globe to hear the latest news and updates from the business leaders. Jaco and Nick took us through the various challenges we’ve faced as a smaller business and turned these into our biggest qualities. Yes, qualities! As a smaller business we get to have close relationships with our clients and can ensure we offer that personal touch not just in service but also knowing and understanding the challenges of their business. This gives us far more insight in terms of what we offer to our clients than most other businesses. Imagine calling your mobile provider and them knowing everything about you and what you use each month without telling them!
This care extends beyond just our clients but to our people. We value each member of our team as each person brings their own strength and skill to the business. Part of the day was to promote our new company culture within the business which is to support, develop and grow. The business is gaining momentum and as such we have added to the team with 7 new team members this month alone! This takes our total to 20! People are at the heart of what we do as a service business which is why we decided to recognise some of the achievements of the team over the last 12 months.
We held an awards ceremony with the following awards and winners on the day. We also recognised the achievements of the team with a little appreciation gift which was well received by all:
WINNERS from the day were:
Luis Moreira – The ever optimist
Alfred Mlambo – Support superstar
Jeremy Cook – Big Deal
This marks are very exciting year for the business, showing not just the growth of the team but the increased business achieved through the hard work, excellent service and dedication from the whole team. As we continue to support the X3C family, this in turn will lead to the success of the overall business.
And finally, the best team days are the ones that lead to a practical result. Having a get together is fine, but having tools and techniques you can use going forwards is even better. Having a laugh with magic tricks is entertaining (this happened in the evening!), but committing to (and carrying out) action is what leads to enduring change in the business.

This month, X3C is proud to announce that they have achieved certification from Cyber Essentials Plus proving its dedication to cyber security and protection from cyber attacks.
Cyber Essentials is an official UK Government backed scheme that encourages organisations to adopt best practice in information security and ensures they take sufficient measures to prevent against the risks of possible cyber attacks. Threats to cyber security come in many shapes and sizes and Cyber Essentials Plus is a certification that acknowledges protection against these attacks as well as our our strong security management ethos and procedural framework. The Cyber Essentials Plus Certification is the highest level of accreditation and is awarded by means of an independent assessment of the business security controls and processes.
X3C is dedicated to investing in its cyber security and data protection and will continue to keep abreast of the changing landscape ensuring that personal data is managed properly and kept in a secure and safe digital environment.
Nick Tucker, Operations Director of X3 Consulting commented “Achieving the Cyber Essentials Plus certification is evidence of the hard work of our support teams behind the scenes, in ensuring our cyber security is as strong as possible to protect our clients’ data. Our clients can rest assured that we are following best practice guidelines and recognise the importance of keeping their personal data secure.”

X3 Consulting complete the 26 mile Rob Roy Mighty Hike
On Saturday the 3rd September 4 members of the X3 Consulting team completed 26 mile long marathon along the Rob Roy Way, following in the footsteps of Rob Roy MacGregor, a famous figure in Scottish Folklore in aid of MacMillan cancer support. The team started the marathon at 7.30am and finished in just over 9 hours at 4.32pm. The team have collective managed to raise £1,878.00 for the charity. Nick Tucker, Kelly Tucker, Jaco Estherhuysen, Tanya Esterhuysen were also support by Jaco’s son William and his girlfriend Liberty on the hike.
In the months before the event the team trained hard in preparation for the day long marathon. The Rob Roy Way is a 79-mile route linking Drymen to Pitlochry in Perthshire. It follows in the footsteps of Rob Roy MacGregor, a famous figure in Scottish Folklore, and the mountainous Scottish Highlands provide a stunning backdrop for the Rob Roy Mighty Hike.
The Rob Roy Mighty Hike is predominantly a flat route with good underfoot conditions. While it is one of our more accessible hikes, it is still a demanding challenge, particularly if the weather is poor. The route covered approximately 26 miles from Callander to Killin, along the Rob Roy Way.
