Sage X3 for ERP named Product Experience leader: What independent analyst ISG says

ISG Report 2026 blog 2

Maybe you’ve heard that Sage X3 ERP has been categorised as a ‘Leader’ for midsized manufacturers. In practical terms, that means Sage X3 ranks among the top two or three ERP solutions available for manufacturers looking to modernise operations and scale efficiently.

So, what’s behind this recognition and where can manufacturers derive the most value?

One of the key areas highlighted by ISG is Product Experience, which represents 80% of the overall assessment methodology. Sage X3 is designated as a Product Experience Leader, placing it firmly within the top three providers. This ranking reflects the solution’s depth of out-of-the-box, manufacturing-specific functionality, as well as its proven ability to support the full ERP lifecycle, from onboarding and configuration through daily operations, long-term usage, and maintenance.

ISG assigns 35% of the Product Experience weighting to Capability and 45% to Platform, underscoring how critical a resilient and adaptable ERP architecture is for today’s manufacturers. Sage X3 performs strongly across both dimensions. In particular, ISG highlights Sage X3’s platform strengths in areas such as customer privacy protection and regulatory compliance, both essential for manufacturers operating in increasingly complex environments.

In total, ISG evaluated 35 functional criteria across Capability and Platform. Sage X3 consistently demonstrated enterprise-grade performance relative to its peers. Its combination of robust architecture, compliance support, and configurable functional depth is central to its placement among the market leaders.

A key insight from ISG’s Product Experience framework is that midsize manufacturers are seeking ERP solutions that are both comprehensive and manageable, broad enough to support growth, yet practical to implement and maintain. ISG observes that Sage X3 delivers mature functionality across planning, shop-floor management, supply chain execution, and multisite operations. This breadth makes Sage X3 an ideal system for manufacturers with diverse requirements and ambitious growth plans.

ISG also notes opportunities for Sage X3 to continue expanding advanced manufacturing capabilities, including IoT, robotics, and machine learning. The good news is that since the version reviewed in the report, Sage has introduced a newer release of Sage X3 that includes Sage Copilot and Intelligent Agents, embedding AI-powered assistance directly into workflows. These innovations strengthen several of the areas ISG identified as future opportunities, making Sage X3’s Product Experience even more competitive moving forward.
